Why is Brand Consistency Important?

Brand consistency is essential when growing your business; whether it’s on social media, a website, a storefront, or in person. But before I start talking about why brand consistency is so important I want to make sure you understand what I mean by branding.

What is Branding?

  • The essence of who you really are

  • A feeling and connection to your story (your why, mission and vision)

  • The spark of your business that ignites customers to act

  • A visual identity to express yourself to those who need you most

  • Verbal and nonverbal communication between your business and customers

  • Shape the way customers view you and your business

Branding is everywhere. Every person has a brand, and every business has a brand. If you have a business, you already have a brand of some sort. The goal now is to ask yourself, “Do I have a cohesive brand?” If your answer is no or I don’t know, I am here to help you figure that out.

Now that you know what branding is and why having brand consistency is important here are 5 steps to create brand consistency to boost your business.

1. Build brand trust and brand recognition

Your brand creates an experience between your business and your customers, from your social media content to your brand colors. People learn to recognize your branding across all your business platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, website, newsletters, in-person events, etc). By gaining brand recognition you build trust with your audience.

So take a look at all of your business platforms and ask yourself the following questions.

  • Are the colors the same

  • Are the fonts the same

  • Are you using the same brand messaging

The goal of all businesses is to gain clients. If you want people to work with you ask yourself “If you saw your brand, would you work with yourself?”

The most effective way to gain brand trust and recognition is through your brand experience when customers interact with your business platforms.

2. Keep it SIMPLE

I bet in some way you use automation in your business. What if I tell you that you could create a sense of brand automation?

When you put time into creating your brand you walk away with a brand guideline. You know exactly what your brand looks like, you know exactly which colors, fonts, and imagery to use. Creating your content and graphics just got SO much easier than ever before. You eliminated the guessing game and you create a cohesive brand experience.

Are you ready to stop wasting hours on graphics that don’t align with your brand mission and vision? Let’s create a custom brand that connects you with your ideal clients to boost your business.

3. Develop your confidence

Let’s start with a very important question.

Why did you start your business?

Great businesses know why they're in business, they know their target market, they know exactly how they help their clients and they know their products and services are changing the world.

Knowing your why in business and knowing where your zone of genius creates a form of confidence that shines brightly over your business. People will start to recognize your brand voice and see the value you have to offer them by working with you.

When you know your why, you provide content that speaks directly to your ideal clients. Think about it, who are you speaking to right now? Do you know? Do you just provide content to try to keep up the algorithm?

Let’s develop your why so you can show up with confidence and in your zone of genius.

4. Define your purpose

If I asked you right now to tell me what you do, what would you say? Do you even know what to say?

By defining your purpose, you can tell people what it is that you do and who you work within less than 3 sentences.

People will funnel into your online platforms from all different directions. Does each platform introduce your business within 30 seconds? If I go to your Instagram right now do I know what you do by reading your bio?

Think of this as your business bumper sticker, you have 30 seconds. Will your customer stay or will they go?

5. Be specific as possible

Be specific in your brand messaging. Speak directly to your target market/ideal clients.

One way to do this is by narrowing down your “clients” to a niche. Yes, you can work with clients outside of your niche, but when you have decided on your niche, your brand messaging can speak directly to them. You can focus on their pain points and how you can serve them. This is when your zone of genius takes over.

For example, do you want to work with men or women, the age range of 20-30 or 30-50? When developing your brand and content you would speak to each group differently. You might have different brand colors and fonts and use different words for each market.

Being specific will allow you to speak directly to them through your brand.
